sql server reporting services:
I have a multi-value parameter.

In preview mode, I have to click the drop-down first to see all the values,
with the value "(Select All)" placed by RS at the top of the list.

But how can I make RS have (Select All) as the DEFAULT, so the user doesn't
have to go to the drop-down at all if he wants all the values... ?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,
Mike.

Hi Mike,

On your Report Parameter form, click on the default and click from query and
select the same value.
e.g. If you have selected the value of the dropdowns (for multiselect) from
query say dataset1 and value is code. select the same in the default. When
you click the report it automatically picks up (select all) option.

Any doubts let me know.

Amarnath,

Is this only for SQL Server datasets? I've tried the same method for an
Oracle dataset and it does not set the value to Select All. It gives me a
blank value and I have to set the checkbox manually. Both the Available
values dataset/value and the Default values dataset/value are the same. I'd
rather not use the workaround by creating a union to a dummy value of 'All'.
Any help on this is would be greatly appreciated.

Best regards,

Vish

Hi Vish,

It should support Oracle datasets. Just check again you might have missed
out something. If everthing is fine and still not working you will have to
"Select All" manually. There is no way out.
