How to pre-select a printer in RS print dialog box? C17
3/23/2006 5:49:30 PM
sql server reporting services:
My user has already selected a printer before he/she has gotten to the part
of the
program where RS 2000 SP2 reports are displayed. Now I would like that
printer
to be pre-selected in the dialog box that comes up when you click on the
Print icon in the browser view.

Currently, the default printer is always pre-selected. It seems like
overriding this should be elementary, but I cannot find anywhere how to do
it.

Thanks,

C17 (finally figured out how to post to the managed newsgroup!)

Hi C17,

welcome to the MSDN newsgroup.

From your description, you're wondering how to manually set the print
dialog's selected printer setting in reporting service's report?

Based my research, the printing setting of printer is always pointed to the
default printer. This is the fixed behavior the the webbrowser. Changing
such setting need to access the windows registry which is not likely the
case for reporting service report. Here is one kb article mentioned on
this. So unless we can inject rich client sciprt(windows script) in browser
and the client allow such script to run can this work.
