sql server reporting services:
I'm trying to change the Auth method for users accessing the reports with
Internet Explorer from basic auth to windows auth.
I have checked the "Integrated Windows Authentication" box for the
ReportServer virtual dir in IIS (and left the basic auth checked), verified
that the auth method is Windows in web.config and given Browse permission on
the Reports to the users.

They still get presented with a dialog requesting userid + password when
they navigate to the reports.
On the other hand, they can access the OLAP db through Excel using Windows
Auth.

What am I missing?

Hi Pat,

Thank you for your post.

From your description, my understanding of this issue is: When you access
the Report Server, it continue ask for login password. If I misunderstood
your concern, please feel free to let me know.

Please provide some detail information for troubleshoot:
1. Does this issue appear on all your clients?

2. If you lower the security level in IE or in the custom level settings of
the Internet explorer security properties scroll all the way to the bottom
and change the behaviour of the User Authentication, to be Automatic logon
with current username and password, does this appear?

Sincerely,

We've found a couple of occurences of clients where the problem doesn't
occur. So it looks like we need to do some more homework on our side as the
RS setup does look ok.
Thank you for your reply.

Hi Wei,

It turns out the problem was due to clients not recognizing the RS server as
a local intranet site, thus blocking windows auth.

Thanks for your help.

Thank you for the update.

You may try to look at the IE setting as I mentioned in the previous post.
