sql server reporting services: Can I save a report file (.rdl) from SQL 2005 report services to be
compatible with a SQL 2000 report server? I'm currently having problems, file
will not upload and my admin is telling me it a version problem.

The report definition is not valid. Please verify that the report definition
uses the current report definition namespace (i.e.

Bummer, I'm surprised they don't offer a save in SQL 2000 format

Nope. You can deploy 2000 reports to 2005 but not 2005 reports to 2000. The
RDL format has changed (for instance to support user sortable columns,
multi-select parameters, etc).

Even MS Word can write back in an old format !
well I've just spent 4 hours writing a report in VS2005 (which doesn't fail
over unlike VS 2003). :-)
Only to find out I can't deploy on SQL 2000 machines - and all but 1 of my
customers are using SQL 2000 - and will be for a few years. :-0
So don't get the fanfair out as I can't use VS 2005 until we can write back
to older versions of Reporting Services. :-(

I wish this was in the readme somewhere easy - as I tried to find something
before and after I installed it - but only when I got the error could I find
it in BOL.
Little things like this - don't win microsoft any friends in the dev.
community.

Big things like this.

I am getting so sick of Microsoft.
