sql server reporting services:
We're looking to upgrade our RS 2000 environment to RS 2005. I'm having problems trying to figure out how to do this with the least impact to our developers and of course our customers. Here's what we've got right now: DVLP: RS 2000 Server running on a shared web server SQL 2000 DB running on a separate shared DB server DEMO: RS 2000 Server running on a clustered shared web server environment SQL 2000 DB running on a separate shared DB server PROD: RS 2000 Server running on a clustered shared web server environment SQL 2000 DB running on a clustered shared DB server environment We'll be converting both the RS instance and the DB to 2005. My question or issue is, developers are supposed to deploy their reports to DVLP, then to DEMO and then we implement them in PROD. If we upgrade DVLP to 2005 (RS Server and a new instance of RS DB 2005), I can of course have them use DEMO and forget about DVLP for the time being. But when we're ready to upgrade DEMO, how should I do this? I don't think I'll be able to upgrade DEMO and then do PROD immediately afterwards b/c alot of testing is going to need to occur. If I run two instances of DEMO (RS Server and RS DB), and allow developers to continue to use DEMO RS 2000, when I upgrade PROD won't I need to have them redeploy any reports to DEMO? We will be creating new instances of the DB for RS on a new SQL Server 2005 box. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Kel
