sql server reporting services:
I have reports developed in VS 2003 over the past couple of years. They were
set up using SQL Server 2000 and deployed to an IIS 6.0 server, using IE 6
and IE 7 (beta) client browsers with no problems.

I just upgraded my SQL Server from 2000 to 2005 yesterday and, using VS2005,
re-deployed my reports to the same IIS 6.0 server. The reports run fine
under IE 6.

However, when I click on any report in IE 7 (beta 3), the toolbars show
(including any report parameters) but then that IE tab starts cycling (as if
a page was loading or refreshing). The animated "report running" icon does
not show and that tab becomes immediately frozen/unresponsive. Any other
tabs I have open in that IE 7 window are still active/working, at least for a
while though the whole instance of IE 7 seems to eventually freeze and I have
to close it.

Does anyone know what is happening and what change I need to make in IE 7 to
correct the problem?

Thanks,

Hi Bruce,

I tried this with tabs disabled and got the same results. In both cases the
status bar in IE 7 showed a rectangular box with a yellow exclamation mark on
it in the "Phishing Filter" section, just to the left of the security section
(which showed "Trusted Site" for my intranet site). The web page stops
responding to mouse clicks pretty quickly.

This box keeps pulsating, along with the IE icon flashing, indicating that
the page keeps redoing something for some reason. I'd disabled the phishing
filter at one point with no improvement.

Any other thoughts?

You could try having it do the same interface as IE 6 (no tabs) and see if
that helps.

No, except it is beta so I sure would hope that there will not be a problem
come release.

I have passed on your very good description of how it behaved to someone
internally at Microsoft just to make sure they are aware of it. If they tell
me any work around I will post it.

I heard back that the IE team has committed to fixing this. No workaround.

Interesting but at least they know about it.

I still have IE 7 Beta 2 at home and was able to access my report server
fine, no issues. It is obvious that the problem was introduced with version
3 of the beta.

Thanks.
