I think you could manually edit the rdl which isn't too bad if you haven't
done 2005 specific features (mutli-select parameters, user sorting, etc).

I am afraid it takes too long time to discover all differences between rdl
schemas. Or it's easy to edit? Why they didn't make it possible to convert
reports? For example microsoft word allows us to save docs in all old doc
formats...

Word is a stable product. They didn't allow backward conversion for many
many many years.

I think that you can delete the part that says what version it is. Look at
an RDL from 2000 and from 2005. It should be at the beginning. I haven't
done it, just heard that it can be done --- again, if you haven't used the
new features. You would have to edit a lot more if you have used the new
features.

It's strange, I can "save as" doc in W2000 format in W97 format... If I use
new features, Word warns me that these features will be unavailable in old
formats...

Word 2000 was the first version (if I remember correctly) that saved in
previous versions. Anyway, this is a server product, not a desktop product.
There is not a single server product that I know of that goes backward to a
previous version. The team is focused on moving the product ahead and
putting in support for backward conversion would have just diverted
resources from new features.

Just my guess at the reasoning.
