Setup e-mail subscription problem. Jeff Richardson
9/26/2006 1:29:36 PM
sql server reporting services: When creating an e-mail subscription, the TO: field contains the users
Domain Name instead of their e-mail address. The TO: field is also
read-only so that the user is unable to enter their correct e-mail address.
When I do the same thing, but I have 'Content Manger' privileges, I am able
to change the TO:.

How do I setup SSR 2005 to allow a regular user to enter their e-mail
address in the TO: field?

Thanks in advance

Jeff Richardson

Hello Jeff,

You could create a new item-level role definitions and specify the Manage
all subscriptions permission for the new role.

And you could add your users to this Role.

Hope this will be helpful!

Wei Lu,

Thank you for your response. I understand your solution to my problem, but
I do have a question. I thought it was possible for any user who has rights
to a report would also be able to create Subscriptions to that report? I am
surprised it would take Manage All Subscriptions since I would assume that
those users would also be able to change or delete other user's
subscriptions.

The only reason they want to change the TO: field is that the field is
pre-populated with the user's login name. Is it possible to get SRS2005 to
lookup the user's email address and put that in the TO: field? Then there
would be no need to change the TO: field.

Jeff.

Hello Jeff,

I understand your concern. In SSRS 2005, each user could edit their own
subscription by click the My Subscription.

The TO: field will read the login name of the current user and since the
login name does not contain the email address, it could not get the email
information.

This issue is by design.
