sql server reporting services : After installation I cannot connect to the Reporting Service instance using Configuration-Manager

Hi NG,

I deinstalled SQLServer 2005 Express Edition and installed the Advanced
Express
Edition again to try the technics of the Reproting Services. The
installation finished without any error message.
If I try to run the Configuration-Manager for Reporting Services a message
is immediately raising.
Message:
"Configuration-Manager for Reporting Services"
"Error while trying to load the provider"

I tried to install this feature on another machine and it worked. But it
would be fine if I could run it on my Notebook.

Maybe anybody has an idea to find the solution for that problem.

Martin

How did you do it?
Touching the registry is not good practice

Hi Martin.
Maybe when you uninstalled SQL Server, you didn't delete the
SQL diretory and the registry keys, so SQL server is looking
at the old values?
I had to do that before I could get a re-install working.

Indeed, Cris, good advice for beginners, but, unless I
searched the registry for SQL Server related keys and
deleted them, then I found I could not re-install SQL Server
2005 Express with Advanced Sevrices. Of course one should
back up the registry before touching it. That process worked
for me after much head scratching...
And you have to give permission (browser rights) for the
ASPNET user to access the reports and datasource.
HTH,
Ron.
