sql server reporting services: I have a web app where I am using 2005 Reporting Services with
ProcessingMode of Local. The ReportViewer is not showing the print button.
I've looked through messages and found that printing was not supposed to be
available. However I thought I read that printing functionality was
supposed to be added with Service Pack 2.

I just installed SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2 and the Critical Update from
Windows update. When I run my web app I still don't see the printer icon.
If I change the ProcessingMode property from Local to Remote then I see the
printer icon.

Is printing from local processing mode supposed to be supported after
service pack 2 or did I not read something right. If it is supported,
anyone know if there are any special steps I need to do to make it work?

Hello Terry,

I understand that you want to get the print function in the Local
processing mode for the ReportViewer Web Control.

The ReportViewer webforms control uses an ActiveX control for client side
printing. This ActiveX control is not packaged in the viewer assemblies -
it is only available from a report server. Therefore in local mode, client
side printing is not available. The ReportViewer winforms control does not
use the ActiveX control, so it has client side printing available in both
server and local mode.

This feature is being considered for the next release of the product.
