asp.net webservices : Client or Consumer?

Hello.

This must be a simple question. Why is a consumer called a consumer and not a client

IMO this is because it could be confusing. From the point of view of the
webservice, it is a "client" but a particular client of your service could
be itself a server application or another webservice. "Consumer" is more
general and helps to avoid this confusion...
