bug in Replace In Files feature?

bug in Replace In Files feature? Zeng

dotnet clr:
I keep getting the message "Cannot access c:\myfolder\myfile.cs" even though
I can check out the file then manually replace it. Everytime I use the
feature to replace a string for many files, I would have to run more than 10
times because of this. Every time I run, it find new files that it can
replace and cannot access to another set of files.

Look to be a bug to me.

If I check the option "Keep modified files open after replace all" then it
works better, I think because some files have been deleted from the project
but my local copies of the files are still read-only; and those files cause
problems to Replace In Files feature. In the past I have posted question
about how to find out all the local files in my folder but not in the
project but didn't get any reply. Hope someone know how and give me some
clue this time. Thank you very much in advance.

I think if you don't check "Keep modified files open", the replace function
does not try to check out your files, therefore seeing them read-only and
issuing the "cannot access" error.

Maybe you would receive more answers on the topic if you asked in the right
newsgroup. Something like microsoft.public.vstudio.*
