Is SP2 Installed? -- dotnet compact framework

Thanks, Daniel. I was able to install SP2 on my device by downloading and
running the SP2 redistributable installer.

My next question is: How do I update the Pocket PC 2003 Emulator running
under Visual Studio 2003? I have downloaded the file "Microsoft .NET Compact
Framework Developer.exe". I ran the file, which produced a set of CAB files,
one of which is: netcf.all.wce4.X86.cab. Is it sufficient for me to copy
this CAB file to: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio .NET
2003\CompactFrameworkSDK\v1.0.5000\Windows
CE\wce400\x86\netcf.all.wce4.x86.cab and then perform a hard reset of my
emulator, which will take care of deploying SP2 to the emulator? Other posts
I have read say to copy the CAB file to the emulator then run it on the
emulator. However, if the emulator is subsequently hard-reset, the CAB file
will have to be copied over again.

Hi Peter!!!

Thanks for the advice!!! I installed the service pack some weeks ago
just like John described, and I was not able to make the tab key to work in
the emulator, even though it does work with the same program on actual
devices. Now, with your advice, I think I'll just try it.

That technique will work but is not supported by Microsoft. For the Pocket
PC 2003 Emulator you should copy the cab file to:-
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio .NET
2003\CompactFrameworkSDK\v1.0.5000\Windows
CE\wce300\WCE420x86\netcf.all.wce4.x86.cab

Note that Pocket PC 2003 is peculiar in that it's files are taken from the
WCE420x86 and ARMv4 subfolders within the wce300 folder (where previous
Pocket PC devices are supported), not wce400 which you might expect.

I believe that that is a known issue with the emulator, not with SP2 itself.
Check the archives. Remember that it's only an emulator; you can't use it
to replace testing on a real device!
