I have a brief primer that may help get them started. It's a MS Word
document, and too large to post here. If you post back an email address,
I'll be glad to send it to you, zipped up. I used it for several years
(supplemented by in-class demos) to get beginners into VC++ 6.

I am looking for some material that can be used to introduce first year
computer science students to VC++ 6 so that they can make console
appications and can use the debugger and other IDE features applicable to
console applications. The aim of the courses is to introduce the students to
concepts such as

Recursion,Pointers,Object-Oriented Programming,Generic Programming
(templates),File I/O Streams,Dynamic Memory Management,Exception
Handling,Bit Manipulation

I would like to use VC++ 6 for this purpose. The students are familiar with
the Borlandc Turbo C++ 3.0 IDE. Any material that can help me introduce them
to VC++ 6 in this context will be very helpful.
