dotnet academic:
I am trying to set up a Windows 2003 Server that will be
used by students to learn to write VB.NET web
applications which access data from an SQL server. The
students use machines which log in to the campus network
under the student forest. My machine logs into the
campus network under the faculty forest. The server I am
attempting to setup would be under its own forest because
the IT manager does not want anyone who has
administrative access on a server to also have access to
the student forest.
The server I'm trying to setup would run IIS 6.0 and
SQL. The client machines on the student forest and
faculty forest(my machine) would be running Visual
Basic.NET to create the web pages on the server.
Does the Windows 2003 server that I'm trying to set up
need to run Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP? Does a
student need to have an account on the server(ie I need
Active Directory) in order to create a Web site using IIS
6.0?
Thanks,
Madeline
