Gunnar, you might want to also post this in the private MSDNAA newsgroups,
where MSDNAA reps hang out. If I had a suggestion for you, I'd gladly
provide it.
To get to the MSDNAA newsgroups, go here and sign in:

http://www.msdnaa.net/signin.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2fmembers%2fDefault.aspx

Alternatively, call MSDNAA support and see if they can help.

I just checked in the private MSDNAA newsgroups, and there are some recent
threads discussing download problems and the SDC0500 error. Seems the
problem is at the MSDNAA end.

Has there been any progress on fixing this issue (SDC0500)?

I'm a student at another university and I've been experiencing this
error for two days now when trying to download from MSDNAA. Since I'm
just a student, I don't have access to this secret group but it would be
nice to know when/if the problem might be resolved. Thanks!

Please check with your MSDNAA Administrator. He/she has access to the
private MSDNAA newsgroups and access to MSDNAA support on behalf of your
university. Your Administrator should be actively involved in assessing and
resolving download issues affecting students at your university.
The general reference I made earlier was to messages which later were
followed by indications that the issues had been resolved, but your problems
may not be the same as those reported even though the symptoms are similar.
