i installed the .net framework 1.1 But I am not able to install the

do you need .net framework 2.0 as a prerequisite for installing visual
c# express edition ?

What's the actual problem (error message / just crashes); what Windows
version; etc. etc.?

[.NET 2.0 should be installed with C#, anyway]

The framework is included on the installation CD, as Paul stated, and should
automatically install as part of C# Express. What does happen when you
attempt the install?

i believe it works only with .net 2.0. designer support is different because
of changes in language such as partial classes and thus it wouldn't work
properly with older versions of framework. also you better get rid of other
related software such as older versions of sql server. anyway, why would you
want to use .net 1.1 if the newer version has so much more to offer? ;)
