dotnet academic:
I am trying to write a macro where my cursor consistently locates the first
row of recurring data on a spreadsheet despite the fact that it may appear in
different locations on subsequent spreadsheets to which I apply the macro.

I'll assume that you're asking this about Excel?
Unfortunately, I'm no Excel jock, and you're unlikely to find any hanging
out in this .NET programming group.
You will get good answers in groups dedicated to Excel, such as:

microsoft.public.excel

microsoft.public.excel.programming
