Is it practical/possible to create a shell extension that could host an
internet explorer instance?

Any documentation/tuturial/example/website would be appreciated.

There are (IIRC) examples on CodeProject.com of how to create shell
extensions with C#. There's even an explorer bar.

Windows Explorer already does use Internet Explorer. Isn't this a bit
circular?
