Imports Microsoft.Data.Odbc in VB codebehind -- dotnet odbc.net

After reinstalling VisualStudio.Net I am getting the
following message when executing my web application:

BC30466: Namespace or type 'Odbc' for the
Imports 'Microsoft.Data.Odbc' cannot be found.

I have researched many articles and found reference
(Microsoft knowledge base #Q318917) to an ODBC.Net bug
which can be worked around by adding a compile directive,
but this seems to apply only to the in-line vb code. How
can this problem be avoided when using codebehind vb?

Any idea why this would have worked before the reinstall
and not now?

Hi -

Did you try to reinstall the Microsoft.Data.Odbc as well. Look for the
file named odbc_net.MSI and just click on it. After reinstalling it - drop
the reference and re add it in your project. I think that might work. Hope
this helps.
