So I am wondering about Mike's response=2E Do you guys think a=
virus scanner could have something to do with high CPU usage=2E =
Because I have a app sitting on a server listening for stuff=2E =
As a request comes in it parses the request and creates a SQL=
report=2E Anyway, the memmory usage on this App is 22K max with=
maybe 400 handles and sometimes the CPU usage just spikes up to=
99%=2E any thoughts=2E

Yes, I'm in a corporate environment where McAfee is required but where
I can't get help with it. I periodically find McAfee McShield has
started to do an on-access scan of installer executables and .zip
files. It takes 100% of the cpu then and NOTHING gets any work done
until McShield finishes. By nothing, I include everything from Windows
Media Player stops playing to Notepad and Explorer not responding. I've
gone into using tools like filemon and can see it get stuck reading zip
files.

I usually use the Task Manaager's processes tab sorted by CPU usage to
confirm that it's McShield again but then must struggle to be patient.

Have you used the task manager to see which program is using using your
CPU?

Mike
