dotnet sdk:
It's in the 2.0 SDK documentation, but it's not present in the SDK
headers nor the mscoree typelib, and I can't find any mention of its
removal. What happened? Is there any other hosting interface that
offers equivalent functionality?

This is a bug in SDK. The API is removed in v2.0.
