dotnet setup : J# and/or .NET Framework 2.0 not detected by Setup Project

I've written a Windows service deployed via a setup project. On sane
environments (clean VMWare targets and most users) everything is fine. If
..NET 2.0 isn't there, you get a nasty box, if J# isn't there, you get a
nasty box, if everything is there, installation or update proceeds as it
should.

However, I have had one user report that they installed the .NET 2.0
Redistrib and the J# installer was still complaining that it wasn't there.
Reboots, everything, no dice.

Also, I have another user trying to install the actual application after
installing .NET 2.0 Redistrib and J# Redistrib; however, the MSI installer
is adamant that J# is in fact not there.

Has anyone encountered this? I don't seem to see anything of this nature in
this newsgroup or on google, nor am I sure what exact search terms would get
me closer to resolution on these two independent issues.

Is this a common problem with .NET requisites? I'm really hoping for an
easy solution. Any insight anyone could provide would be really
appreciated.

Disregard this. I found out how this happens. Users install .NET and think
it gives them J#. I'm sure for licensing reasons they have to keep the two
separate, but it really doesn't make any sense to me, it just confuses end
users.

I am experiencing the same problem. I have a setup project with Launch Conditions for .NET Framework and J#. I have added the 2.0.50727 version in the supported runtimes for the .NET condition. I have installed both .NET fwk and J# distributables. But alas :( The setup cannot find the J# installed :(
