dotnet general : Failure of the Windos Component Model

I almost didn't want to waste my time, but I did it with Both OUtlook 2003
and Outlook 2002. Both found the incorrect spellings in both instances.

So there I was, when the spell checker found it and I thought "John probably
made that up just to see if I can get Bill to waste his time." Then I
thought, that must also be why John and his boy keep insisting that you
can't use Pointers in C#.

Either that, or Outlook and other MS products feel the same way the rest of
the world does about John...

King:

I was totally serious about everything but my last sentence. I really do
think Bailo says silly stuff like that just to see if we'll waste our time
disproving it. Regardless of what I think of his value to the NG, I don't
doubt that he's a fairly bright guy. As such, I doubt he'd really make such
claims like this one b/c he couldn't figure out how to work Outlook.
Considering how he likes provoking people, it's much easier for me to
believe he posted this for his own amusement rather than just sheer
stupidity.

Now, I did notice that he posted that stuff about Virgin Radio and that very
wierd "I'm as gay as Linux" thing (my version of both Windows 2003 server
and RH9 both seem asexual if anything, but I digress).

Not sure what bailo's deal is...

Hi William Ryan , You say :
" I did it with Both Outlook 2003 and Outlook 2002 .
Both found the incorrect spellings in both instances . "

Some little German guy , Marcus Mönnig ,
wrote a program called _ 40tude Dialog _ .

Dialog beats the crap about of Outlook Express 6.0 .

OE6 can't spell check any fields .

What's worse , It doesn't check the spelling on the fly .

I use a back background so OE6 is sometimes unreadable .
( Because OE6 forces me to use dark fonts )

Worse yet , due to the large size of my tool tips ,
It's damn near impossible for me to even select a field .

What's more ,
I can't change the size of _ All _ the fonts .
( Such as folder names , fields , menus etc. )

Additionally , OE6 can't score like this :
[**]

=+100 From {(?-i)Relf}

+1 References {(?-i)Relf>$}
+1 References {(?-i)Relf>(\s*<[^>]+>)?$}
+1 References {(?-i)Relf>(\s*<[^>]+>){0,2}$}
+1 References {(?-i)Relf>(\s*<[^>]+>){0,3}$}
+1 References {(?-i)Relf>(\s*<[^>]+>){0,4}$}

=+99 Score %=5
=+98 Score %=4
=+97 Score %=3
=+96 Score %=2
=+95 Score %=1

=+30 From {(?-i)Marcus Mönnig}
=+20 From {(?-i)Gregory L\. Hansen}
=+10 From {(?-i)bailo|Pmb|\bGauge\b}

+1 From {.}
-1 Subject {(?-i)Re:}
# Comment
-1 From {(?-i)Uncle Al|Spaceman}
-1 Message-ID {(?-i)mb-m\d\d\.aol\.com}

here is an example of why the Windos component
architecture is a failure:

0. Use Outlook.
1. Use Word as the editor.
2. Make a spelling mistake.
3. Now make the same mistake in the Subject line.
4. The spell checker sees the mistake in the Body, BUT
not the subject line.

See -- it's all bullshit.

I don't know what version of Outlook you're using, but my version
(Outlook 2002), sure as hell finds both.

Hi William Ryan , You say :
" We weren't talking about some free junk like OE "

I have Office 2000 .

I no longer remember why I thought OE6 was better than
plain the Outlook that comes with Office .

But I'm sure I had a good reason for preferring OE6 .

Now, now. Its just that he's left footed.
Its not fare to pick on him when he is attempting to form words with letters
according to the principles underlying accepted usage.

Jeff:

We weren't talking about some free junk like OE, we were talking about
Outlook in the context of what John was complaining about - which was
patently incorrect.

IAYF promised it would do it for
'98.

It doesn't.

Another failed Allchins Bullshit project.

Luckily the money is bleeding from
Redmond.

No more architects.
No more designers.

By Usenet convention, spelling correction comments must themselves contain a
spelling eror.
