Is VS 2003 compatible with Vista? Tim Zych

Well, I just read this FAQ, which says no.

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/vstudio/aa948854.aspx

So my next question is: is MS going to give us a discount to upgrade to VS
2005 so that I can use Vista?

Otherwise, I guess I'll just keep using Windows 2000 until MS prys it out
from under me.

Ha! My guess would be no on the discount. Even VS2005 is reported
to have problems with Vista.

You could upgrade to Windows XP. That's going to be around longer
than Windows2000.

Or use VisualStudio 2005 Express, which is free, but not as
functional as the other versions.

It's a bummer.

Actually, Microsoft has corrected the issues that plagued VS 2005 on Vista.
Just install SP1 of VS 2005 and then install the Vista hotfix. They both
can be found on MSDN.

Cool. Thanks for letting me know. I thought there were still problems;
it's good to know they've resolved all of them with SP1.

I can confirm jbailey's information from my experiences with an installation
here. By following the various articles published on VS 2005 in Vista, and
installing the VS 2005 SP1 and the Vista hotfix, I have VS 2005 working fine
here.

Hello Tim,

My VS 2003 has worked pretty nicely on Vista for months. Can't say I'm
really kicking it hard, but I haven't noticed any issues.
