Hello,

I have an old visual studio .net professional 2002 environment that I need
to move from its original install location (Win2K) to a newer box (XP SP2).

I guess the fundamental question is: what is the best way to move the visual
studio environment from the win2K box to the xp box?

More detailed questions:

1) When I run the original install CDs on the XP box, the Visual Studio
..NET Setup dialog starts out by informing me that I need a Windows Component
Update (detailed message below). I'm reluctant to follow through with this
step without some assurance that the install program is not going to blow
away more recent components on my XP box.

2) The current version information (on the Win2K box) is below. Is there any
way to restore the upgraded version after I use the CDs to install the
out-of-the-box distributed version?

Here's my current version information from the Win2K box:

Microsoft Development Environment 2002 Version 7.0.9466
Microsoft .NET Framework 1.0 Version 1.0.3705
Microsoft Visual Basic .NET 55537-640-2277692-18496
Microsoft Visual C# .NET 55537-640-2277692-18496

Thank you,

R. Trevor

MSFT apps are pretty intelligent in this respect, and different versions
of VS can run side by side anyway so just go ahead - make sure you have XP
SP2 installed before you start to give you the most up to date base for
the installation.
