dotnet internationalization : Is Thumb's Up acceptable internationally?

Apoligies if this is not the correct newsgroup for asking this question but
we are creating a application which includes an 'approve' action, do you
know if using a 'thumbs up' symbol is appropriate internationally? Is it
possible we might accidentally offend anyone with this symbol?
