The biggest one I see is that you are then tied to another company for part
of your application.

If they go under what recourse do you have for future support but to change
companies or write the components yourself?

It also makes you dependent on them for any bugs that crop up in their
components.

I always look for companies that offer a source code subscription to their
controls so I have it in case they suddenly go away or are not as responsive
to a feature that I require or a bug that I need fixed.
