Hello !

I'm fiddling with the databaseconnection (Oracle 9i) possibilities in
"Whidbey", and they seem somewhat rudimentary. Can someone verify for
me what we can expect of Oracle capabilities in the final release of
VS.NET 2005 ?

As for now I am only able to see the tables and the sequences. and to
run SQLs. I would have liked to generate a diagram of the tables, to
see and edit the PL/SQL procedures (maybe not run them, but ...)

Anything to enlighten me will be appreciated.

Hi Jorgen

Visual Data Tools of Visual Studio 2005 will allow the user to create
connections in Server Explorer
to Oracle 8i and 9i servers using the Oracle .Net Data provider (or you can
create connections
using the OLEDB or ODBC data providers). From Server Explorer, the user
can design and
run queries on the Oracle connection, view and execute (but not design)
Oracle PL/SQL procedures and
functions. You can, however, run SQL scripts on the Oracle server using
Database Project scripts (so you
would still be able to write PL/SQL to create Procedures/Functions).

Unfortunately, Database Diagrams of Oracle schemas is not something we
support currently.

Hope this helps

Mike
