Biggest problem to upgrade to VB.NET -- vb.net upgrade

The replacement for combobox item data did not work for me.
I was also very disappointed in getting com bridges for controls such
as listview, treeview and datetimepicker, instead of getting the .net
classes in my program.
Trouble with icons and bitmaps
My program is large, over 100 forms/modules and it is taking me more
than three months to upgrade it to be fully .net, without vb6
compatibility. I really wish I never bothered.

We have two apps in similar size, still in VB6. And I must say, I'm scared
as hell for the amount of work involved with the conversion. I'm wondering
if we should rebuild them from the ground up in VB.NET.

I did one trial convert of a very small project, and the converter did not
understand a whole lot of what we had done in VB6. In their defence: it was
the first version of VS.Net.

Have the later versions improved with regard to the conversion from VB6? Or
have the newest versions completely forgotten about VB6?

Btw, we're currently working on the 2005 versions of our Apps..... in VB6
:-(

I'd be very interested in hearing more about what you ran into that the
Upgrade Wizard "did not understand a whole lot of"

As for enhancements, yes we have added support for upgrading UserControls
and WebClass projects to the 2003 version and are adding support for
upgrading several Windows Common controls including TreeView and ListView
to Windows.Forms versions among others and targeting new VB languages
feature in Visual Basic 2005. See

Again I'd really like to hear more specifics on what problems you ran into.

My biggest disappointment is the lack of an included reporting tool. VB6
atleast had Crystal version 4.5

If my memory serves me correct; VB5 had Crystal Reports. They took it out in
VB6 (so everybody kept on working with the version supplied with VB5,
because the reporting tool of VB6 was a joke) and in VB.Net Crystal has
returned again... or am I getting senile?
