When I wanted to use the getOffset method in j# is wasn't there. I
there an alternative for this method? Or maybe a workaround?

Which getOffset() method are you talking about (i.e. of which class)?

looking at JBuilder3 help, the only "getOffset" I found was a method at
"com.borland.jb.util.FastStringBuffer", some Borland specific class
