where does Microsoft.Xml.Xquery live? all i can find is a copy of it in the
sample project:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnvsdev05/html/vs05c5.asp
but would like to know where Microsoft.Xml.Xquery should be obtained.

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnvsdev05/html/vs05c5.asp
includes Micorsoft.Xml.XQuery you can see the download to it at the bottom
of that microsoft page where it says:

"Click the Download button for the code (503SHANAHAN.ZIP)"

that download when extracted contains and uses the mysterious
Micorsoft.Xml.XQuery

Hello!

That was build into the beta release of .NET 2.0, they removed it in the
final release for reasons maybe only the product manager knows...

The article is obsolete. Beta support for XQuery has been removed. You
still can work with XPath though.
