dotnet distributed apps: Hi,

I think this UI Application Block is a cool thing for
making webform application on ASP.NET working on a
centralized page navigation framework.
At this point, I think I have an overview concept of how
this framework works. My current problem is with the
actually setup. I am able to install all the source and
can bring it up. The only problem is I cannot get pass
the first login page of the web store example provided
since it does not seem to connect to my db (SQL 2000
MSDE) even though I did an "InstallDB". The readme was
not detailed on this issue. Can anyone give me more
detailed pointers on how this is being hooked up to the
db? I am a newbie at this. Any suggestions would be
greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi all,

Regarding to my posted question. I think the presentation
of my question was pretty bad. Let me give more specific
information on this problem. I believe the way that I
can't connect the webstore example to the db has to do
with the fact that the InstallDB step cannot really "see"
the db instance. Eg: I have a machine colin and an
instance head and a db under that instance called
UIPState. I believe that the InstallDB cannot even get
authorization into colin\head. Are there anything that I
need to change in the InstallDB script to achieve that?
Or is there some configuration setting that I am totally
unaware of? Suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Collin

Hi Collin

Has anyone helped you with this yet? I have exactly the
same problem. I have found that there are loads of
errors when I run the create scripts. However I have
fixed all these issues (my server is case-sensitive so
various statements failed) and I still get the problem.

I have now modified scripts to solve casing issues
including the database name, this was causing no errors
in scripts but causing login to fail. I also think the
password encryption causes a problem if your server is
case sensitive. By modifying in both the scripts and the
config file I managed to log on.

Eventually I got to the screens themselves. When I tried
to go to checkout I got more errors asking me to check
that scripts had run correctly.

I have now wasted the best part of a day trying to sort
this and it is not giving me favourable impression of the
Application Block itself!

If anyone from MS is listening please check the scripts,
I cannot waste any more time on it, I'll have to abandon
thoughts of using the UIPAB.
