visual studio .net debugging : ASP remote debugging on WinXP Pro Personal Web Server

This is for you MVP's out there.

OK firstly the specs:
WinXP Pro SP1 with all hotfixes from Windows Update applied(both IIS and
IE6)
VS.NET 2002
(any thing else, just ask)

Now the problem. I can't attach to dllhost.exe from my XP laptop to XP PC
for JIT debugging. I get access denied. I'm on a domain and I've added
myself to both administrators and debugger users on both machines. VS.NET
is installed on both as well.

When I reach a stop statement in my code, the 'server' PC says "Remote
debugging couldn't be started in <my laptop>. Access denied"

I ran mdm /remotecnfg and added my laptop to the list and still nothing.

I followed the instructions from the following article:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/vsdebug/html/vxtskaspremotedebuggingsetup.asp

and still no luck.

I have another PC running Win2KSrv and although I haven't tried to do the
exact thing I'm doing with the XP machine, I didn't have no where near the
debugging problems that I have with the XP PC.

So that leads to this, how to do remote debugging XP to XP????

Has any one got this to work???? Please reply to the thread so others may
benenfit.

TIA VVVVVMMMMM!!!!

OK I reformatted my disk (after backup of course) and reinstalled WinXP and
applied SP1. Reinstalled the middleware for my app and VS.NET 2002 and
everything is working great. I can attach to processes remotely and JIT
debugging remote process works fine.

Still though, does anyone know where my setup got busted that prevents this?
The original config was from a corporate image so that might have had
something to do with it but if anyone has insights to what breaks remote
debugging , we all would really love to know.

Thanks!!!!
