Problems with 2002 Help after first install Scotchy

visual studio .net documentation:
Hi, I may be a bit behind the times, but when I run VS
after first installed, it lets me know that it is updating
HELP with the changes I made, of course I did not make
any, but the process appears to run then after a minute it
crashes with a cannot read memory error etc etc.

Has anyone else had the problem? How did u fix it?

VS 2002
Windows 2000 Prof
SQLServer 2000

I tried to copy the help files directly from the Install
source just in case a corruption occurred, but it did not
fix things at all!

Thanks in advance for any help!

cheers

Paul, I suggest you call the Microsoft product support phone line. If you're
unable to run the Help, then it is a setup problem and you should not be
charged for the call.

Hi Paul,
This is a problem with Visual Studio .NET 2002 that occurs because one or
more Help (.HxS) files were not read properly from the DVD-ROM (or more
rarely the CD) during the file copy phase of the setup process and some
files were corrupted. Microsoft Knowledge Base article 318945
(http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;[LN];318945) describes
how to fix the problem. I would try the resolutions in the article before
calling Microsoft product support as they will most likely walk you through
the same steps. If the problem continues, then my recommendation is the
same as Roger's.

Hope that works!
Kipper
