I have had VS.NET installed for several months with no major problems, but
last night I installed the Dundas chart and Component One Suite from the VB
Resource Kit, and now the 2003 Combined Help is broken as follows:
1. In VS 2003 Help, the only namespaces which show up under the contents
screen are Dundas and ComponentOne. Several other namespaces should be
listed also. The various items for the missing namespaces **do** show up in
the filter combo box (but selecting them only serves to clear the contents
box entirely), and the individual topics show up and open via the index.
2. If I go to 2003 Combined Help Collection Manager
(ms-help://MS.VSCC.2003/VSCCCommon/cm/CollectionManager.htm), it will show
all the other namespaces that should also be listed.
3. If I make a change via the Collection Manager (as to force a remerging
of the collection), close & reopen VS, nothing happens; no "Help Is
Rebuilding Indexes" message, and certainly not any more namespaces in the
Combined Help.
4. The Tools/Options/Environment/Help dialog has the expected entries
listed (i.e., no blanks)
5. I also have VS 2002 on my box, and the Combined Help for that product is
working as expected.
6. I can also open up the individual Help namespaces in question via
H2Viewer.exe. The only problem is that 2003 Combined Help as apparently
decided to stop updating itself.
Any help, suggestions, tips on how to fix would be much appreciated.
