MSDN Library differences? Sharon
11/8/2005 11:13:03 PM
visual studio .net documentation:
What is difference between the 'MSDN Library October 2005' and the 'MSDN
Library for Visual Studio 2005'.

Both are found in the MSDN subscribers download, but in different names in
at different location.

Is there a difference between the two, and if so, what is it?

I'm currently installed with the VS2003 with the MSDN April 2005 and about to
install the VS2005.

I'm a bit confused.
As I understand they are not exactly the same.

Which MSDN should I install now, the October 2005 or the VS2005 MSDN or
maybe both of them ?

Hi Sharon,

[quoted text, click to view]

The MSDN Library for Visual Studio 2005 is a part of the VS2005 product
suite, so it is more focus on the VS2005. The primary difference form the
MSDN Library October 2005 edition is the VS2005 MSDN edition's Development
Tools and Languages catalog only contains the documentation of Visual
Studio 2005's product.

But the MSDN Library October 2005 edition is a general MSDN edition, its
Development Tools and Languages catalog contains the documentation of
VS2005, VS.NET 2003 and Visual Studio 6.0.

For the other parts, there doesn't have bigger difference between them.

Thanks!

Best regards,

Gary Chang

Hi Sharon,

[quoted text, click to view]

For VS2005, I suggest you install the VS2005 MSDN edition, it has already
been integrated with the VS2005 Product, you can choose to install it just
after the installation of the Visual Studio 2005.

Thanks for your understanding!
