visual studio .net documentation:
Hi,

I have installed the new MSDN Library May 2006, which should be an updated
Visual Studio 2005 documentation.

But I don't see if the MSDN Library was updated or not. The name is still
'MSDN Library for Visual Studio 2005'.

How can I know which version I have installed?

Other questions is also, how I can tell MS SQL Server Management Studio 2005
that it should use the latest MSDN version. It seems that it use still the
SQL Server 2005 Books Online (December 2005).

Thanks

Hi Eric,

Thank you posting!

The MSDN 2006 May version is an update version to its MSDN Library for
Visual Studio 2005. So its product name doesn't change. You can find its
version in Control Panel | Add or Remove Programs | MSDN Library for Visual
Studio 2005 entry --- click its support information (click here for support
information). The MSDN 2006 May's version should be 8.0.50727.137.

Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio 2005's local help could only use the
documentation which is installed by the SQL Server 2005, there is no option
to configure its local help provider.

Thanks for your understanding.

Best regards,

I share the same concern with Eric. I feel that the concept of a quarterly
update of the MSDN Library is lost with this new facade. I would prefer to
see the MSDN Library retain its own identity like the previous version. I
don't have a problem with VS 2005 using (integrating) the MSDN Library it
should also stand on it own.

As a MSDN member *since its inception*, I am very unhappy with the *new*
MSDN Library. I big step backwards in some regards. Please pass my
displeasure on to the MSDN Library Team. I would like an opportunity to
express by opinions directly to them.
