visual studio .net enterprise tools:
Hi! I've recently installed Visual Studio .Net 2003 Enterprise Ed. on my laptop. The installation went on well so did not expect any major problems when running the software. However, now I have discovered that the “Add connection”-function doesn’t work properly. This is what happens (or not happens): When I try to add a new connection (of any kind) from the Server Explorer window everything is as expected until I click the OK-button, (I can choose a provider, a connection and test it successfully). Then the window just flickers and then, nothing! The created connection refuses to appear in the window. I’ve browsed the net and found that there are a few that have experienced the same problem, though none of their solutions have helped me. This is what I have tried so far: To verify that there was nothing wrong with the disc, I installed it on my desktop and there it works just fine. I have tried to repair the VS.Net installation and also remove it and install it again. I have also reinstalled the entire computer (formatted), however this didn’t help even though I used the same discs as I used for my desktop (where it works just fine). So both OS and Office are from the same discs! Btw, I run XP Pro SP2 (Swedish) and Office 2003 Pro (Swedish). I have installed all updates and service packs that Windows and Office Update can find. Other software: .Net Framework 1.1 and .Net Framework 1.1 Swedish Language Pack. I’ve tried to register the vdt70p.dll again (C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio .Net 2003\Common7\Tools\VDT\vdt70p.dll), but it doesn’t help. regsvr32. I really need some new ideas (and I know I’m not alone)! Regards, Henrik
I have the same problem. Uninstalled/reinstalled and still nothing happens with the Add Connection option from the server explorer. --
I downloaded and installed MDAC 2.8 and things are working again. The Server Explorer/Data Connections/Add Connections launches the Data Link Properties dialog. --
Hi! I don't have any problem launching the window, it has always worked fine. It's when I click OK that nothing happens. Anyway, I've reinstalled the MDAC 2.8 SDK, just in case, and still nothing... /Henrik
