visual studio .net general:
I've got a server running Windows 2000 Server that I use
as a development box for our office apps. Presently it
has VS 6 installed on it, and I need that package for
maintenance of existing programs. We've got new apps
coming along that are to be created in .NET. I'd like to
keep all my development work on this one server as we
phase out the VS 6 programs and move to .NET.
My question is: can I install VS.NET on this server
alongside the VS 6 instance? What do I need to do (if
anthing) to install the two on the same box? Is this

I have VS 6, VS.Net 2002, and VS.Net 2003 all on the same box. They all
work fine.

The only cavaet I've ever heard is in regards to VS 6. If you are using VB
6, you should disable the "auto update references" (forget the exact
wording, it's been awhile...) option in your project. That is b/c you can
end up in a MDAC versioning hell otherwise (since v2.7 is installed by
VS.Net, and chances are good the clients using your VS 6 apps aren't...).
