Yup, my feelings exactly - I've moved from Delphi to C#, and I must
say - I miss Delphi and its so well thought out VCL class library.
Don't get me wrong - .NET is a great step forward to any VB or C++
programmer - but for a Delphite, while a lot feel very well known and
comfy, in some areas, it's more like a step sideways, or back.
The VS.NET IDE is a disaster, compared to Delphi - I sure hope Borland
will put out a great Delphi for .NET this fall ! That'd be the
greatest thing since sliced bread - all the benefits of the .NET
classes, hopefully enriched with some Delphi/VCL goodies, a great
language, and hopefully another stellar Borland IDE !

If you still target Win32, I would - heck, with Delphi, you'll get the
best Win32 dev tool around, and with Delphi for .NET you'll likely
have the best .NET dev envionrment around, too! :-)
[quoted text, click to view] >It's getting difficult to hire good Delphi programmers,
It's always been hard to find good programmers - period. That's not a
question of the language. We trained dozens of VB'ers and C++ people
in Delphi, and the vast majority of them picked up Delphi in no time,
and couldn't believe they've ever put up with anything else in the
past!! :-)
[quoted text, click to view] >and will be worse in the future. I see a lot of Delphi people migrating to C#.
For now - but I'll be back doing Delphi for .NET as soon as it's out!
