visual studio .net general: Hi,
I'm developing for ppc2003, and can no debug on my ppc
device.
All was working fine, but now when i try to run the app
from vs.net, i get the error:
"Cannot establish a connection. Be sure the device is
physically connected to the development computer."
I can still see the ppc through explorer, and activesync
is working fine. I am also still able to debug on the
emulator.
Any ideas please?
Cheers,

Hi Adam,

Sorry to hear you're having a problem.

When you were able to debug on the device were you connected to a network?
If you need to debug while you're in 'stand alone mode' - that is, not
connected to a network - you should install a loopback adapter. This will
make VS.NET happy.

Here are the instructions for Windows 2000:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=http://support.microsoft.com:80/support/kb/articles/Q236/8/69.ASP&NoWebContent=1
(Watch out for the line breaks in the URL.) The instructions for doing this
in Windows XP are very similar.

Thanks for posting to the newsgroup, and hope this helps,
bliz

Thanks for your response, but...
I was connected to a network at all times (I was
originally deploying over wireless LAN), but have tried
installing the loopback adapter anyway, but it hasn't
helped. I have also reinstalled vs.net, again with no
effect. Any other ideas?
Thanks,
Adam

Hi Adam,

Please download the "Windows CE Utilities for Visual Studio .NET 2003
Add-on Pack 1.1" from
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?amp;amp;amp;amp;displaylang=
en&familyid=7ec99ca6-2095-4086-b0cc-7c6c39b28762&displaylang=en
You may need choose the CPU type using the tool "Select Windows CE Device
CPU" from this pack.

Refer http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;818207 for
more details regarding this pack. And you can read the readme file from

Hi Adam,

Please remember to restart your VS.NET 2003 after select the CPU type. It
may be needed to remove your Pocket PC from the cradle and reconnect it
again. If it still can not work, please let me know.
