visual studio .net general : MSDN library installation problem

I removed the July MSDN library from my computer and tried to install the
October library. The installation appeared to complete without errors, but I
get "cannot find server" and "no page to display" errors on any attempt to
view the content. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the library a couple of
times, uninstalled Visual Studio.NET and reinstalled in, and even tried to
reinstall the July MSDN library. None of these things worked, and I get the
same error every time.

Any ideas about what to do to fix this would be appreciated. Thanks.

Did you ever find the answer to this? I have experienced the same thing

How do you view the MSDN content, via Programs shortcut or F1 from
within VS.NET? If it's the first access type you're having problems with
then I'd suggest checking the shortcut's parameters, 'ms-help:' in
particular. My October MSDN install has the following command line
parameters:

/helpcol ms-help://MS.MSDNQTR.2004OCT.1033

Hope this helps.

No, I haven't gotten it working.

It doesn't work for me from the program files shortcut or from VS.NET. I see
the same parameters in my shortcut.

Thanks,

My MSDN library is working now, but the reasons are not clear. I've been
trying to start up an ASP.NET database project, so I've installed some things
in the last couple of weeks, including MSDE and the SQL Server Enterprise
Manager.

All the signs seem to indicate that these installations have undone some
changes made by running the baseline security analyzer.
