visual studio .net general : Walkthrough: Creating a Basic C++ Console App

Hi,

I have Visual Studio .NET Academic.
I have selected a New Project.
In the Project Types pane I choose
Visual C++ Projects.
Then the instructions say select the
C/C++ Console Application. However,
no such template icon exists(i.e., shows
up). A WIndows32 Console Application or
..NET COnsole icon is present, but not a
C/C++ Consolr Application.

I have un- and re-installed VS .NET with
no problem or indication of errors.

Any suggestions?

Win32 Console Application is what you want. Looks like a mild name mix-up
between the instructions and what's on the screen, but either way it's a
C/C++ "console" (non-GUI) application that runs on Windows32.
