visual studio .net general : Visual C++: writing in the window pane like where it says Done and Internet at the bottom of your explorer frame

I've searched and researched. I don't know what that part of the
window is called at the bottom of the frame. I want to be able to
write to it. It doesn't seem to be a menu bar. Without the proper
jargon, I can't begin to reference it.

Thats my first problem.

My second problem is the method for writing to whatever it is that I'm
talking about.

If you use internet explorer, At the bottom of the window, it says
"internet" on the right and "Done" on the left. There is an icon
accompanying each.

The area you are referring to is the Status Bar. To tell you specifically
how to work with it, we'd have to know what C++ project template you're
using.
