visual studio .net general : Does Norton AntiVirus Give Enough Trouble?

Hi,
Environment: Windows XP 2002 SP 2, Visual Studio.NET 2003, MS SQL Server
2000, Norton AntiVirus 2004, Java Virtual Machnie;

I got a weird problem recently. Where If insert an applet code into my
ASP.NET application, the object appears to be in Dark Black and thereafter
Visual Studio gets stuck, where I couldn't do anything rather than forcefully
close VS.NET by using Task Manager(This been so harsh to VS, where it didn't
give this sought of problem)

I went on posting on Several Newsgroups of this problem, none of them did
give a good solution yet. I was wondering whether it is an error or a bug.
However while surfing the internet, desparate enough to get a solution, I
came up with a good article. It does say that Norton AntiVirus can cause
havoc in VS.NET. Eventhough disabling Script blocking, doesn't seemed to be a
good idea. Article could be accessed on :
http://www.eggheadcafe.com/articles/20010623.asp
(do referesh couple of times if it didn't come up good)

I just want to know how true is it. Reinstalling the OS and VS.NET would be
right Idea for this? Perhaps there might be atleast someone who might have
faced this problem with having Norton Antivirus installed in it, Or someone
who could give a better reply.

Regards,

Hi,

I don't know specifically about your problem, but NAV has been linked to
debugging problems before, and from experience I know it can cause problems
to network code. Presumably you've tried disabling Norton and checking that
the problem goes away?

Hi Steve,
Firstly thanx for the reply. I tried by disabling NAV and Script Blocking
before and disabling Windows Firewall but it didn't work out good either.
There isn't any trouble from VS.NET, but the main problem is that I couldn't
insert an Java applet Chart for it. There must be a solution for it, but very
hard to find it. Anyway how did you tackle the problem with NAV? is it just
by disabling NAV?

Hifni

Hi,

Well, if you disabled NAV and the firewall and the problem is still there,
what makes you think it's a problem with NAV? It sounds like something else
is wrong.
