visual studio .net general:
Using VS.NET 2003...

I have a setup project for a solution that includes C++ and C# code.

It used to build, but now when I try to build the setup project, I get the
following errors:

ERROR: Unable to update the dependencies of the project. The dependencies
for the object 'dotnetfxredist_x86.msm' cannot be determined.
ERROR: Unable to update the dependencies of the project. The dependencies
for the object 'vc_user_stl71_rtl_x86_---.msm' cannot be determined.
ERROR: Unable to update the dependencies of the project. The dependencies
for the object 'vc_user_mfc71_rtl_x86_---.msm' cannot be determined.
ERROR: Unable to update the dependencies of the project. The dependencies
for the object 'vc_user_crt71_rtl_x86_---.msm' cannot be determined.

All these files exist in the c:\program files\common files\merge modules
directory.

Please assist in any way possible.
Thanks,
Klynt

Hi Klynt,

From your description, the issue is when rebuilding one of your VS.NET
setup project, you get some "The dependencies for the object '***.msm'
cannot be determined." errors, however that project was built well before,
please correct me know if I have misunderstood anything.

Before we proceed, I think you can create a new setup project and add
reference with these merge modules in-question, then rebuild. This could be
used to verify whether those modules are corrupted by any chance and ensure
all of them could be accessible in the system.

The above test will help us to find the problem, so I appreciate your time
in performing them. Let me know the results at your earliest convenience.
If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know. I am standing by
to help you.

Thanks!

Best regards,

Gary Chang
