visual studio .net general : How Do I Get VS .NET 2.0 Free Version Installed?

I heard that Microsoft was offering a compact version of VS. NET 2.0
and so I've spent the last several hours downloading products from
their site and I cannot get one that will actually allow me to open up
VS.NET and start writing code in C#. I've installed Microsoft .NET
Framework SDK v2.0 from a couple different locations and the best I can
find is a CLR debugger but it doesn't have any ability to allow me to
code in C#. Am I doing something wrong?

Is this what you had in mind (Visual C# 2005 Express Edition)?

I realize you were looking for Visual C# Express Edition. I just wanted
to mention that the Framework SDK does include a compiler. One could
write C# in Notepad or another editor and use the compiler manually at
the command line. Indeed I did this in v1.1 and it was an excellent
learning experience. SharpDevelop is also an excellent free IDE for
building .NET applications.
