visual studio .net general: When I open a project from Visual Studio .Net (the version I use is
2002) that is in SourceSafe I am prompted for login. Is there anyway I
can avoid this? I saw an article somewhere which allows sourcesafe
username and password to be stored in the computer environment
variables. But this works only for opening sourcesafe directly not
through Visual studio .net.

Thanks,

John

Open the SourceSafe Administrator, go to Tools, Options menu, General tab
and check "Use network name for automatic user log in". Then if your network
name matches your username in the SourceSafe database, the logon dialog
should not happen. It works for me...

Also, if the names can not match, at least in VS 2005 you can go to Tools,
Options menu, Source Control, Plug-In Settings section and set the Login Id
(Sourcesafe).
