I know I am not the first to experience this but it is getting very
frustrating. I am constantly getting VB Compiler errors when I am just
coding - no debugging, no designing. Just trying to write code. I am using
VS2005 on Windows Vista. I have installed all of the updates and they don't
help at all. I have reduced the number of projects in the solution. The
last events logged are EventID 4096 in VsJITDebugger followed by EventID 1023
from .NET Runtime. Are there any hotfixes that might help or should I just
look at learning C# or give up on dotnet altogether? It seems worse since I
upgraded to Vista (clean install) but I got a fair share of similar errors in

Have you tried the following?

(1) Close DevStudio, nuke the project's .ncb files. These can get
corrupted over time.

(2) Download Memtest86+ from http://www.memtest.org/ , burn to a
floppy/CD, and boot off that. Let it run overnight to see if you have
any RAM faults.
